Need help with a snake?

Step 1
Feeling scared? Take a breath, every snake in Tobago is non-venomous. Most just want to be left alone. When you stay calm, the snake stays calm too.
Feeling angry? Even if it grabbed one of your animals, the snake is only doing what comes naturally. Hurting the snake doesn’t solve the problem—it just leaves us with a wounded animal.

Step 2
Give it room, snakes can strike up to six feet. The closer you get, the more threatened it feels.
Don’t try to trap it, chase it or chop it. That makes our rescue harder and more dangerous.

Step 3
Once you’re calm and keeping your distance, call us. Every rescue is different, so we’ll ask a few quick questions and be there as soon as possible.
If the snake’s healthy, we’ll relocate it somewhere safe. If it’s injured, we’ll care for it at Corbin Local Wildlife, and if possible, release it back into the forest.
This is a free community service. We don’t buy snakes, we rescue and protect them. Come by for a tour and meet Tobago’s local wildlife.

Not Just Snakes!
Corbin Local Wildlife rescues and rehabilitates all kinds of native wildlife here in Tobago — not just snakes. Agouti, iguanas, sally painters, tattoos, birds, caiman… if it’s wild and in trouble, we’ll do our best to help.
